Discover the best events, restaurants, and things to do in New York. Updated daily.
New York City's public event coverage on NearbyToday is a pilot: we pull directly from NYC Parks, CUNY (public lectures and performing-arts programming across 25 campuses), and NYU's public events feed, filtered strictly to events that are open to non-students. That means the page skews toward free civic and academic programming — talks, gallery openings, park programming, film screenings — rather than commercial venue shows. Ticketmaster handles Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, and Broadway. Because NYC is so dense, distance-sort really matters: enable location and you'll get events within walking distance first.
NearbyToday pulls events directly from 60+ official public sources — municipal event calendars, tourism board feeds, public library event systems, university public-events feeds, Ontario Parks, and Ticketmaster for concerts and sports. Each source is fetched at its origin, de-duplicated, and cached with a stale-on-failure fallback. Read the full methodology on the About page →
